Bug causing public holidays not to show on iPhone calendar

An apparent bug with the Calendar app on iPhone is causing public holidays in several countries around the world not to show for 2022, with users in the UK, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark and more reporting that public holidays for the new year aren’t showing in the Calendar app as they previously did.

First reported by MacRumors who brought the issue to light, the Calendar bug was initially discovered mid-2021 when users started to check their calendars for the year ahead. It appears that the issue isn’t affecting calendars worldwide, with the US seeing all of 2022’s planned holidays in-app as they are supposed to be.

Apple is yet to comment on the issue however, it is likely that an update will be pushed either server-side or in the next iOS update to address the unexplained issue.

MacRumors reports that users in the UK are able to add their public holidays for 2022 by importing ICS calendar files provided online by the government that sync to a user’s iPhone calendar app.
