M1X MacBook Pro still likely to release within “the next month”

According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the first M1X Macs are still on track for later this year. This chip is rumored to be included in models such as Apple’s next MacBook Pro and possibly a higher-end Mac mini.

The new chip will allegedly come in two configurations. Both will have a 10-core design with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. As far as graphics cores go, Apple will offer the option of 16 and 32 core configurations. Gurman claims these first chips show up in new MacBook Pro models sometime “in the next month.”

These same chips could also be included in higher-end Mac mini models “at some point.” It’s also reported Apple is working on “higher-performance chips for a new Mac Pro” as well as an “M2 for future MacBook Airs, iMacs and low-end MacBook Pros.”

We expect to see new MacBook Pro models soon as Apple typically does its major Mac reveals in October. These models are expected to be available in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations with mini-LED displays, a redesigned chassis, an SD card slot, an HDMI port, and MagSafe for charging. Apple is also expected to remove the Touch Bar from Pro models.
