iPad mini shipping dates slip into October, some orders now ‘Preparing to Ship’

Apple has extended shipping dates for the iPad mini into October ahead of deliveries and in-store pickups beginning for customers who pre-ordered the new devices from Apple following their grand unveiling on Tuesday.

Shown alongside the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and Apple Watch Series 7 at Apple’s “California streaming” keynote, the new iPad mini is available in four new finishes featuring a larger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display, an all-screen design, A15 Bionic chip, Centre Stage, 5G, and more.

Customers who order the iPad mini now from Apple are seeing the estimated shipping date slipping to late October, showing initial launch day stocks have now sold out, similar to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which are now also unavailable for delivery on launch day if ordered right now.

Customers who manage to secure launch day delivery on on September 24, Apple is now in the process of updating order statuses and moving them to the “preparing to ship” process. When an order changes to “preparing to ship,” the order can no longer be canceled and Apple begins boxing up the order and getting it ready for dispatch.

Not all customers who pre-ordered with launch day delivery will likely see their order status change to “preparing to ship” right away. The statuses change as and when each individual order is processed, so it takes a while for Apple to work through all the orders placed right as the online Apple Store when live and orders started to flow through.
