Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, featuring advanced pro camera system upgrades, the new A15 Bionic chip, a 20 percent smaller TrueDepth camera system, and more.
During today’s “California streaming” keynote, which also saw the launch of the iPhone 13 and new Apple Watch Series 7, Apple announced that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max would gain ProRes support, an advanced video codec used widely as the final delivery format for commercials, feature films, and broadcasts, to offer higher colour fidelity and less compression.
In the fine print of the Apple webpage, Apple notes that there is some limitations to the ProRes capture quality depending on which storage configuration a user chooses, limiting ProRes video recording to 1080p 30 fps with the 128GB storage option.
iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max support ProRes video recording in the Camera app at 1080p 30 fps with the 128GB storage option and up to 4K 30 fps with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.
