As it has done recently for all its special events, Apple launched a #WWDC21 hashflag on Twitter for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June, which showed several iMessage-themed Tapback icons on Tweets that use the #WWDC21 hashtag.
As thoughts turn to Apple’s next special event, which is expected to take place next month to unveil the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, and more, there’s a chance that since June, the #WWDC21 hashflag has been holding a hidden clue about the date Apple will host its September special event.
Hashflag Browser, a site created by researcher Jane Manchun Wong, shows Apple’s #WWDC21 hashflag is set to expire on Twitter next month on Monday, September 6th. The date is notable because it shows Apple has earmarked September 6th as the date it wants its current #WWDC21 promotions to come to an end, possibly so it can launch a new hashflag for the iPhone event rumored for later that month.
One theory, which is nothing more than pure speculation right now, is that Apple is planning on pulling the #WWDC21 hashflag on the Monday, announcing the date of its iPhone 13 special event the following day on Tuesday, September 7th, and launching a new #AppleEvent hashflag that would run on Twitter in the days leading up to the special event, which could take place the week after on Tuesday, September 14th.
Again, this is pure speculation right now, but the fact Apple has chosen to end its #WWDC21 hashflag promotion in early September, the month all rumors and reports have so far pointed at being the month when the next-generation iPhone will be announced in, the #WWDC21 hashflag may very well be offering us a hidden clue about what’s to come.
