Apple’s next iPhone SE is expected to launch during the first half of 2022, with Nikkei Asia publishing a new report on Wednesday that suggests the device will feature 5G support, the same 4.7-inch display as the current-generation model, and the same A15 chip rumored to be used inside the iPhone 13.
The Nikkei report follows similar claims from DigiTimes and respected industry analysts Ming-Chi Kuo, who both point to the new low-cost iPhone launching within the first six months of 2022.
Rumors claim this year’s iPhone SE upgrade will be minor ahead of a substantial update later down the line, which will bring a punch-hole display design to the iPhone for the first time.
Apple was first rumored to be considering bringing punch-hole displays to the iPhone by Kuo in March, suggesting at the time that Apple may take a leaf out of Samsung’s book with an iPhone that looks similar to the Galaxy A71, with the front-facing camera in a small circle in the device’s display, looking like a punch-hole on a piece of paper.
