Apple announces ‘Spring Loaded’ event for April 20th

Apple has announced it will host a “Spring Loaded” special event on April 20th, which is expected to see the iPhone maker introduce its long-awaited AirTags, new iPads, and possibly an updated Apple TV.

The event will be streamed next Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time from the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, and will likely follow a similar format to Apple’s previous events last year, which saw new products announced in pre-recorded segments from different areas of the Cupertino campus.

The “Spring Loaded” event is expected to see Apple finally unveil AirTags, the new Tile-like item trackers that will attach to valuables such as wallets, backpacks, keys, and more, allowing users to locate their belongings in the Find My app, which will notify users as soon as they become separated from their valuables, with the exception of when items have been left behind at a pre-defined Safe Location, such as at the user’s home or workplace.

It is also rumored that an updated iPad Pro could make an appearance at the special event, featuring upgraded internals and a new mini-LED display.

It was initially thought that Apple would introduce new third-generation AirPods at next week’s event however, recent reports have suggested the new earbuds won’t enter mass production until later this year, damping hopes that we will see them announced anytime soon.

The announcement follows after Siri started promoting the April 20th event earlier today.
