Elon Musk reveals he considered selling Tesla to Apple, but Tim Cook refused to meet with him

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that he considered selling his company to Apple, but Tim Cook allegedly refused to take the meeting.

Reports this week have claimed Apple is continuing to work on its long-rumored electric self-driving car, with the program said to have achieved a milestone recently by developing a new battery design that would “radically” reduce the cost of the Apple Car’s batteries as well as increasing the new vehicle’s range.

In light of the new reports of Apple’s rumored vehicle, which likely would be a direct competitor to Tesla, Musk has shared that he was open to selling the company to Apple for 1/10 of its current value during the development of the Model 3, but Apple CEO Tim Cook wasn’t open to discussing the opportunity, as reported by Electech.

Apple started poaching Tesla engineers almost five years ago for its automotive project. It is understood that since then, Apple had shifted its focus from building a car to developing autonomous vehicle software, but after various changes in its approach, the company is now said to have its sights back on releasing its own vehicle for consumers.

Musk didn’t say when exactly he approached Cook in his tweet today, but the Electech notes that he often discussed what he called “production hell” when ramping up the manufacturing of the Model 3 from 2017 to early 2019.
