TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has forecast that Apple will release two redesigned MacBook Pro models in 2021, followed by a “more affordable” MacBook Air in 2022.

In a note to investors, Kuo suggests Apple’s two new 2021 MacBook Pro models will be the first to adopt mini-LED display technology, that will offer wide color gamut performance, high contrast and HDR, in addition to local dimming – a technology that dims the backlight behind areas of the screen that are displaying black while keeping the bright parts of the screen bright.

Kuo has previously suggested Apple will launch a new 14.1-inch MacBook Pro in 2021, which will likely replace the current 13.3-inch machine.

Its unknown what the new models will offer or what the redesign could bring, but rumors have speculated that Face ID may be coming to the Mac in future, as well as possible bezel reductions for an edge-to-edge display.
