Apple launches AirPods Pro recall program due to ‘sound issues’

Apple has launched a recall of some AirPods Pro that exhibit sound issues, offering free replacements of affected units.

The program, officially titled “AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues,” is for units manufactured before October 2020. Apple notes the issues are limited to a “small percentage” of earbuds, which may be experiencing crackling or static sounds, as well as Active Noise Cancellation faults.

Customers experiencing issues with their AirPods Pro are asked to visit Apple.com, an Apple Store, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to have their earbuds examined and replaced if eligible.

The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.
