Apple extending Apple TV+ free year trial to February 2021

Apple is extending its year-long free trial of Apple TV+, which was due to expire later this month, giving customers who signed up for the trial after purchasing a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV last September a few additional months of access to the service for no charge.

According to Rene Ritchie, in addition to extending the free trials, Apple will also be issuing store credit for subscribers to Apple TV+ monthly or yearly plans during this period, with refunds set to be  automatically issued where applicable.

Apple hasn’t made an official announcement to confirm why it is extending the trial and refunding subscriptions, but it is likely due to many planned releases being postponed due to the global health pandemic.

All of Apple’s launch titles were due a second series, and presumably Apple is wanting to keep users onboard the service until at least the first or second episodes of those new series launch next year.
