Apple is said to be planning to expand Apple Card internationally this year with the release of iOS 14.1 or iOS 14.2, according to a new report from MacRumors that cites a source claiming to be close to an unnamed Australian banking corporation involved in the expansion.
Apple Card rolled out to users across the United States last year. The credit card, created in partnership with investment banking company Goldman Sachs, allows users to track spending and help manage bills within the Wallet app on iOS – completely fee-free, and with lower interest rates compared to traditional banks.
Users can make purchases using their Apple Card with Apple Pay on their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac, or with the optional titanium Apple Card banking card, which features no printed card number or security code, making it the world’s most secure credit card.
The new report follows after Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed his interest in expanding the service last year, with reports from sources familiar with the service leaking information which suggested Apple was in negotiations with regulators across Europe about Apple Card’s future rollout.
MacRumors didn’t share which countries are rumored to receive Apple Card this year, although the source cited within the report suggests Australia is on the list.
