Apple taking legal action against small company with pear-shaped logo

Apple has taken legal action against developers of meal-planning app “Prepear” over the company’s pear-shaped logo, seen above, which is said to be too similar to the Apple logo.

Prepear allows users to save and organize cooking recipes, create custom meal plans, automatically create grocery lists, and more.

In its filings, Apple claims the Prepear logo may cause consumers to mistakenly believe that Prepear is somehow endorsed by Apple, and that Apple’s brand may be damaged if customers were to confuse Prepear with its own brand.

As iPhone in Canada first reported, company founder claims Apple is demanding they change our obviously pear shaped logo, adding that “It is a very terrifying experience to be legally attacked by one of the largest companies in the world, even when we have clearly done nothing wrong.”

The small company says the legal battle has already cost them “many thousands of dollars.” A Change.org petition has been created by Prepear in an effort to persuade Apple to “drop its opposition of the Prepear Logo, and help stop big tech companies from abusing their position of power by going after small businesses like ours who are already struggling due to the affects of Covid-19.”
