Apple shows new emoji coming to iOS, iPadOS and macOS later this year

Ahead of World Emoji Day tomorrow, Apple has previewed a selection of new characters coming to iPhone, iPad and Mac later this year, including new Ninja, Boomerang, Piñata and Bubble Tea emoji.

Shown in a post from Emojipedia, Apple has offered their first glimpse at a handful of the new emoji arriving over the coming months. It was revealed Apple was working on the new characters in January as part of the upcoming Emoji 13.0 update, but until now all we have had is concepts based on how the new emoji may look on iOS, iPadOs and macOS.

In total, 117 new emoji will be rolled out later this year, likely with either iOS 14.1 or iOS 14.2. The following designs have now been confirmed:

  • Dodo
  • Nesting Dolls
  • Piñata
  • Tamale
  • Pinched Fingers
  • Boomerang
  • Ninja
  • Coin
  • Anatomical Heart
  • Beaver
  • Transgender Symbol
  • Bubble Tea
  • Lungs

Additionally, the update will add bottle-feeding parents, the transgender flag, a pinched finger gesture, and more.
