iPadOS 14 to turn handwritten text from Apple Pencil to typed text

iPadOS 14 will include the ability to turn handwritten text from Apple Pencil to typed text in apps such as Messages, Notes, Reminders, Calendar, Mail, and more, according to leaked iOS 14 information obtained by MacRumors.

Apple is said to be expanding the capabilities of Apple Pencil with new text and texture features, including a “Magic Fill” feature that will apply texture or color to a shape drawn by the user in addition to an updated version of its PencilKit framework to add new ways developers can integrate Apple Pencil support to their apps.

According to the report, default Apple apps such as Notes will show a pop up whenever a text field is tapped with the Apple Pencil, allowing for users to begging writing with iPadOS 14 automatically transforming the handwritten text into typed text.

The new Apple Pencil capabilities are expected to be announced in June when Apple officially previews its next-generation iPadOS version.
