Apple to bring iOS 14 to all devices compatible with iOS 13, claims rumor

Apple will roll out iOS 14 to all devices compatible with iOS 13, according to French site iPhonesoft that claims whilst no devices will be dropped from running the latest version of iOS, Apple will drop support for some older iPad models with the next release of iPadOS.

According to the rumor, iOS 14 will run on everything from the iPhone SE to Apple’s latest iPhone 11 line, whilst the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 won’t be receiving the next-generation of iPadOS, most likely due to their ageing A8 and A8X chips.

The story should be taken with a pinch of salt, especially given the mixed track record from iPhonesoft. The site claimed Apple would drop support for the iPhone SE with iOS 13 which never happened however, the site did correctly predict that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 would also miss out on the update.

iOS 14:

  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max

  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

Additionally, iOS 14 will run on Apple’s 2020 iPhone line, comprising of five models including a low-cost iPhone SE predecessor dubbed the “iPhone 9”.
