Apple Archive shows never before seen AirPower ad

Apple’s cancelled AirPower wireless charger has allegedly been shown off in a never before seen ad shared by the (unofficial) Apple Archive today, showing the iPhone X, Apple Watch Series 3 and a pair of AirPods all simultaneously charging, as the product was intended to do.

The video, which opinions are divided on whether or not is fake, is said to be a social media advert for the wireless charger which Apple scrapped last March after publicly announcing “an ongoing inability to meet its high standards for hardware”.

As suggested by iHelpBR writer Filipe Espósito on Twitter, the advert was likely created as an example to be pitched to Apple rather than their final approved version. You can see most of the iPhones placed on the mat aren’t actually charging, and presumably Apple would also want to show the iPhone 8, which launched at the same time as AirPower, during the commercial too.

Apple Archive, a free-to-use site created by Sam Henri Gold boasts the largest public archive of Apple commercials, keynotes, promo videos, campaigns, and more. The site shows a range of released and unreleased ads from Apple, with the AirPower social media advert being one of them.
