Apple has revealed within a newly published support document that the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro will be able to detect when a user has a non-genuine display installed, similar to how older iPhone models can recognise when a third-party battery is used as a replacement.
The document notes how users who have a non-Apple display installed may experience issues such as degraded multi-touch performance, unintentional touches, incorrect colour calibration, and even battery drain.
Additionally, Apple warns a new notification may appear that says, “Apple has updated the device information for this iPhone.” – Users running iOS 13.1 on an iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro may also see the warning in the Settings app under General > About.
Within the support document, Apple recommends all repairs are done at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) who all use genuine Apple parts.
