Apple has applied to trademark the name Apple Card across Europe and Hong Kong ahead of the official launch of the mobile banking service expected to launch in the United States alongside the public release of iOS 12.4 later this month.
As spotted by Patently Apple, the company has applied for the word Apple Card and the figurative representation Card. – The filings also show Apple has applied to register the word Apple Cash.
Filings show Apple has applied for the trademarks in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.
When will Apple Card launch in Europe?
Apple hasn’t shared an official launch date for Apple Card, though the service is expected to launch initially in the U.S. in summer. The Apple Post reported in June that Apple has reportedly been in discussions with financial regulators about the future expansion of the service across Europe, though a launch date still remains unclear.
Apple Card is a new Apple-branded credit card created in partnership with investment banking company Goldman Sachs, which allows users to track spending and help manage bills within the Wallet app on iOS.
Announced in March, the service will offer much lower interest rates compared to traditional banks, with Apple rewarding users with financial cash-back called Daily Cash. – In addition to digital payments, Apple is also launching a stylish titanium physical Apple Card for regular chip-and-PIN payments. – The card has no CVV security code, no expiration date and no signature, making it the most secure bank card around.
