Apple releases updated version of Texas Hold’em to mark 10 years of the App Store

Apple has released a surprise update to the App Store classic Texas Hold’em to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the App Store.

The update is the first the app has received in 10 years, with Apple keeping all the original App Store reviews which date back to when the app first launched.

Apple touts within the release notes for the update that “fans will love the polished redesign, featuring new characters, more challenging gameplay, and stunning graphics for the newest iPhone and iPod touch.”

Apple’s Texas Hold’em is back! To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the App Store, we’ve brought back one of its first games, a popular classic. Originally created for iPod, then brought to iPhone, fans will love the polished redesign, featuring new characters, more challenging gameplay, and stunning graphics for the newest iPhone and iPod touch. Players will also love that it’s free to play—for the very first time.

Texas Hold’em debuted on the iPod in 2006, before arriving as one of the first games on the App Store in 2008.
