Apple officially closes Texture following Apple News+ launch

As expected, Apple has officially closed Texture, the digital magazine subscription service it purchased last year, following the initial launch of Apple News+ in the United States and Canada.

Apple acquired Texture in early 2018, with Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue saying at the time, prior to the public unveiling of Apple News+, that Texture would become integrated with Apple News in the future.

The service has been operating as normal since, however recently Apple began prompting users to subscribe to a months free trial of the service, warning as of May 29th the service will close and subscriptions will be terminated.

Until now Texture has been available on both iOS and Android, however the migration across to Apple News+ will mean all current Android users who once were subscribed to the service will be left to find an alternative pay-monthly magazine subscription company to use, unless Apple announces an Android version of Apple News at its World Wide Developers Conference next week.

Apple News+ is priced at $9.99 per month in the United States, the same price as Texture, and is also available for $12.99 per month in Canada.
