Apple shares new ‘Shot on iPhone’ film ahead of Chinese New Year

Apple has released a new “Shot on iPhone” film created by Jia Zhangke ahead of Chinese New Year in February captured entirely on an iPhone XS.

The short film, “The Bucket,” shows a family finishing their Chinese New Year celebrations, focusing on a mother packing up goods for her son to take back to the city after spending the holiday at home with the family. – The six minute film shows the son’s journey back home using iPhone techniques like slo-mo and Depth Control.

Alongside the film (below) Apple has released two new behind-the-scenes tutorial style videos to show iPhone users how they can use some of the techniques demoed during the film. – Apple presumably is hoping the new film will help encourage iPhone sales during the holiday in China, with the company lowering the price of the iPhone XR to carriers in the country with the aim of  third-party vendors passing the savings back to customers.
