Apple confirms 70 new Emoji coming to iOS and Mac later this year

Red Hair Emoji - The Apple Post

Apple has confirmed more than 70 new emoji characters are coming to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac later this year, including new hair options for red hair, grey hair and curly hair characters, an old face, a party face, a pleading face, a face with hearts, and many more.

The new characters have been shared ahead of World Emoji Day on July 17th within a post to the official Apple Newsroom on Monday. The new emoji will reportedly arrive shortly after the official release of iOs 12, MacOS Mojave and watchOS 5.

Included in the update are new characters for the kangaroo, peacock, parrot and lobster, with the addition of new food emoji for mango, lettuce, cupcake, moon cake and other popular items.

More than 70 new emoji characters are coming to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac later this year in a free software update. The new emoji designs, created based on approved characters in Unicode 11.0, include even more hair options to better represent people with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, and new smiley faces that bring more expression to Messages with a cold face, party face, pleading face and a face with hearts.

We first saw the new emoji in February when The Unicode Consortium shared a glimpse at 150+ new characters that were submitted to Apple for inclusion within a software update to iOS, macOS and watchOS later in the year.

Apple notes many additional characters across sports, symbols and more, will launch later this year, including a new superhero emoji, a softball, nazar amulet and infinity symbol.
