Apple on Monday quietly cut the price of its 1 metre USB-C to Lightning cable from its original selling price of £25/$25, to £19/$19 amid reports that Apple will include USB-C to Lightning cables within the box of future iPhone models to offer fast charging out of the box.
It appears that the new lower-priced 1 metre USB-C to Lightning cable has been given a new part number — MQGJ2AM, while the longer 2 metre model keeps its original selling price of £35/$35, and its original part identifier.
The Apple Post reported earlier in the month that reports from China claim Apple will include a 8W USB-C power adapter and USB-C to Lightning cable with future iPhone models which would enable fast charging speeds that could charge an iPhone from 0% to 50% in approximately 30 minutes.
Unfortunately, the new lower-priced USB-C to Lightning cable isn’t all you need for fast charging. Users are also required to by Apple’s 29W USB-C Power Adapter that hasn’t seen a price reduction today.
