How to fix ‘Messages in iCloud is currently disabled’ error

Messages in iCloud is currently disabled

The Apple Post reported in April that users upgrading to iOS 11.3 have noticed an error message in the bottom of the Messages app on iPhone and iPad that warns ‘Messages in iCloud is currently disabled’, giving users the option  to ‘Repair Account’, which appears to do absolutely nothing.

Since we first reported the ‘Messages in iCloud is currently disabled’ error many have reached out to The Apple Post asking for a fix, and luckily we have the answer! Here’s how to fix the annoying ‘Messages in iCloud is currently disabled’ error on iPhone and iPad.

How to fix ‘Messages in iCloud is currently disabled’ error

1) Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, select the General you wish to edit and then tap Software Update to ensure you are running iOS 11.3.1. – If not, then update to the latest version of iOS.

2) If the software update doesn’t fix the issue, again open the Settings app and scroll down to Messages. Hit the toggle to turn iMessage off, and then on again.

3) Should both the steps above fail to solve the issue, open the Settings app, navigate to your iCloud Settings and logout of iCloud. Turn off your device, and turn it back on. Once it has turned on, sign back into iCloud.
