Apple reportedly launching 6.1-inch LCD iPhone in blue, yellow and pink

Multicolored iPhones could be making a return. According to StreetInsider, Apple will look to boost sales of its new 6.1-inch LCD iPhone by releasing the device in blue, yellow and pink, similar to the low-cost iPhone 5c that launched in five colours (blue, green, yellow, pink and white) in 2013.

The report, that appears to be pure speculation, is a follow-on from previous insights that claim Apple will release three new iPhone models in 2018, with the range consisting of an upgraded version of the iPhone X, a larger sized ‘iPhone X Plus’ and a “budget” 6.1-inch LCD iPhone that could be priced from $550.00.

Within the report, analyst Jun Zhang claim the decision to bring back multicolored iPhones is to “target the younger consumer market”.

Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang said Apple, in an attempt to target the younger consumer market, could launch multiple colors for the iPhone 8S (LCD model), including blue, yellow, and pink, during the second half of this year […] Since Apple start to launch three new models every year, we believe the company needs to differentiate the designs of the LCD model from the two high end OLED models, he comments. One reasonable choice would be to add different colors.

Some reports suggest Apple could ditch 3D Touch technology from the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, while others suggest the handsets will outsell Apple’s premium range of 2018 iPhone models.

It’s unlikely we will see the new devices until later in the year (most likely around September) although reports have suggested a new ‘iPhone SE 2’ could launch this summer.
