Apple’s ‘Barbers’ ad wins Best In Show at ADC Awards

Apple has won Best In Show at the Art Directors Club (ADC) Awards for its ‘Barbers’ Portrait Mode iPhone 7 Plus ad.

‘Barbers’ was released by Apple in May 2017, showing a barber ramping up business by taking Depth of Field Portrait Mode images of haircuts in the shop on his iPhone 7 Plus, then printing the images and sticking them in the shop window to attract new customers through the door.

Not long after the blurred background images are hung in the window at the family run barber shop, lines of paying customers can be seen eagerly waiting to have their hair cut.

The one minute long commercial was set to William Onyeabor’s Fantastic Man, and aired on both TV and across Apple’s social media channels.
