Samsung to begin ‘iPhone X Plus’ display production in May

Taiwan’s Economic Daily News has claimed long-time iPhone component supplier, Samsung, shall begin production of new OLED displays destined for Apple’s next generation iPhone X, and the rumored ‘iPhone X Plus’ in May, with plans to double its production in July.

The report notes South Korean based Samsung Display will produce approximately 2 million to 3 million displays during May, and output between 4 million to 6 million units in July.

In February leaked images supposedly from within an LG display production facility in Vietnam offered our first glimpse at the 6.5-inch ‘iPhone X Plus’, with the report at the time claiming Apple was starting  “production equipment trial runs” of the large screen iPhone X handset before mass production.

Apple is believed to be beginning production of their next generation iPhone line early this year to help alleviate supply constraints when the new devices launch in September. – Alongside the new iPhone X and ‘iPhone X Plus’, Apple is rumored to be launching a lower cost 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD display featuring a metal back much like the iPhone 7 and a True Depth Camera System.
