Triple-lensed rear camera rumored for next iPhone

According to a new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Apple will introduce a triple-lensed rear camera system on one of the three new iPhone models said to be launching later in the year, supposedly bringing a 6P lens design with 5x zoom.

The report claims the decision to introduce a third camera on the rear of the handset is to compete with Huawei and its recently released P20 Pro smartphone that features a three-lens rear camera system and 40-megapixel f/1.8 lens, a 20-megapixel f/1.6 monochrome lens, and an 8-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

If the report turns out to be truthful it’s likely that the triple-lensed rear camera will be exclusive to the rumoured new Plus device launching alongside the “iPhone X 2” later in the year, and lower priced 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD display.

As with all rumors we advise taking this with a pinch of salt… But, three is better than two, right?
