Apple headphones expected no earlier than December 2018

Apple Headphones - The Apple Post

Following earlier reports shared by The Apple Post last month, Bloomberg has today reiterated that new ‘high-end over-ear’ Apple headphones are in the works, claiming that due to multiple design changes a public launch can be expected no earlier than December 2018.

Bloomberg reports that Apple has been intermittently working on their headphone project for some time, similar to HomePod which was reportedly in production for five years, claiming that the company may scrap the project entirely if they are unable to overcome their “development challenges”.

The report cites unnamed sources within Apple’s manufacturing chain who note that Apple’s noise-canceling headphones are expected to launch no sooner than the end of 2018.

Work on the Apple headset has been on-and-off over the past year. The company encountered similar problems with the HomePod during its development, including multiple redesigns, according to the people. It’s possible Apple will redesign the headphones again before launch, or scrap the project altogether, they warned, asking not to be identified discussing private development work.

The Apple Post released concept images last week of the rumored Apple headphones, envisioning that Apple would take a simple yet stylish approach when designing their ‘high-end over-ear’ headphones, bringing across the familiar glossy outer finish and chrome outlines found on the iPhone X.
