HomePod available to order from Friday, in stores on February 9th

Apple has announced that HomePod will be available to order online this Friday, with deliveries and in-store pick-ups available beginning Friday, February 9th.

HomePod will be available exclusively in the US, UK and Australia at launch, with Apple confirming that the device will rollout to France and Germany ‘in the spring’. – HomePod will be configured through the Home app on an iOS device running iOS 11.2.5 which is yet to be publicly released.

The new speaker will use an Apple-designed 4-inch woofer powered by Apple’s A8 chip; the HomePod is cased in a mesh with a display at the top that shows the familiar Siri icon when a user prompts the device. HomePod will be able to play music, read the news, send and receive iMessages, set reminds, listen to Podcasts, provide answers to general questions, check the weather and perform many other tasks. – HomePod will act as a HomeKit base station, allowing for remote control of home accessories.
