Apple allowing battery replacements for iPhone 6 or later regardless of Genius Bar diagnostic test results

Following the news that Apple would begin offering a reduced price out-of-warranty battery replacement service for owners of the iPhone 6 and later amid a mass controversy over the announcement that Apple deliberately slows older iPhones with aging batteries to prevent performance issues, a report claims the company will offer replacements regardless of Genius Bar diagnostic test results.

The report originates from French tech blog iGeneration who claim an internal Apple Store memo has been circulated which states that regardless of the result of a Genius Bar battery diagnostic test, if a customer asks for a battery replacement on an iPhone 6 or later they should be allowed to go ahead with the service.

It’s believed Apple will also begin offering customers who paid $79 (or the equivalent in that country) to have their battery replaced before the new pricing came into effect in late December will receive a refund from Apple upon request however, Apple hasn’t confirmed this as of yet.
