Analysts predict 2018 iPad Pro will feature Face ID from iPhone X

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo, one of the most accurate and reliable voices on all things Apple, the 2018 iPad Pro will feature Face ID, the facial recognition system that unlocks a device via authentication of a registered users facial features, from the soon to be released iPhone X.

Ming Chi Kuo notes it’s likely Face ID would be exclusive to the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models, reporting that TrueDepth cameras being available on both iPhone and iPad would help increase developer adoption; Touch ID automatically switches to Face ID in apps, but the new camera enables new depth features as well.

Within the report, Ming Chi Kuo refers to the new iPads as 2018F models (which started this month) but upgraded models aren’t expected anytime soon as the current versions were introduced in June.
