Tim Cook says Apple is assisting the UK with their ongoing terrorism investigations

Speaking with Bloomberg shortly after the grand unveiling of iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, watchOS 4 and a range of new hardware at WWDC on Monday, Tim Cook has said Apple is assisting the UK with their ongoing terrorism investigations following recent attacks in both Manchester and London.

During the interview Tim Cook called the United Kingdom a neighbour to Apple, pointing out that Apple has been in the country since the very early days and has thousands of staff working in both retail and corporate locations.

As investigations are ongoing Tim Cook didn’t provide any specific information relating to what information Apple is providing to the UK government although it’s likely to be related to iCloud backups of devices associated with those who conducted the three attacks.

“We have been cooperating with the U.K. government not only in law enforcement kind of matters but on some of the attacks,” Cook said during a Bloomberg Television interview on Monday. “I cannot speak on detail on that. But in cases when we have information and they have gone through the lawful process we don’t just give it but we do it very promptly.”
