Data reveals Apple’s iPhone 7 was the top-selling smartphone during the first quarter of 2017

Data shared by Strategy Analytics shows that Apple’s iPhone 7 was the top-selling smartphone during the first quarter of 2017, with the device claiming 6.1% of global smartphone sales, and the iPhone 7 Plus snatching 4.9% out of the 353.3 million units sold in the first quarter of the year.

According to the research (as shown in full below), Apple shipped 21.5 million iPhone 7 models during the first quarter of the year while the pricier iPhone 7 Plus made up 17.4 million units.

For the second fiscal quarter of 2017 Apple as revealed that iPhone sales were down, with the company selling 50.8 million iPhone handsets (from 51.1 million a year earlier). Gross margin for the quarter was 38.9 percent compared to 39.4 percent in the year-ago quarter, with international sales accounting for 65 percent of revenue.
