YouTube testing new Dark Mode feature on iOS
YouTube appears to be testing a new Dark Mode feature within their latest iOS app release, version 13.01.4. As shown by Redditor amievengabereal, the new feature gives users the option to darken the display in the Settings section of the app making for a more comfortable experience when using the app in low-light situations.
The new feature is available for only a handful of YouTube users, suggesting the company is using a selective server-side activation method to only show the new settings preference on specific devices.
Not only does a Dark Mode feature reduce the strain on a users eyes, it also helps preserve battery life especially on the iPhone X due to the fact the device uses OLED display technology which doesn’t require a backlight.
