Samsung ad compares new Galaxy S9 with ageing iPhone 6
You won’t believe your eyes… Samsung is going in for the kill with its latest Galaxy S9 commercial that mocks the throttled performance of ageing iPhone handsets.
The “Moving On” commercial shows a woman becoming increasingly frustrated with the speed of her ageing iPhone 6 at an airport, and while ordering a car service. – After many scenes of pure stupidity, Samsung then show the woman visiting an Apple Store, only to be told that she could disable “performance management” features at the risk of sudden shutdowns, or simply buy a new iPhone.
As noted by CNET, not only does the Samsung ad compare a 2018 Samsung phone with a 2014 iPhone, but the performance throttling is ridiculously over exaggerated.
The advert even shows a man with a child who both have haircuts styled to mock the iPhone X’s TrueDepth Camera System, also known as the “notch”. Within the fine print Samsung says “screen images simulated,” basically confirming that the footage is fake, and has been created purely for Samsung’s benefit.
