“Massive power outage” closes Apple’s flagship Union Square retail store in San Francisco
Apple’s flagship Union Square retail store in San Francisco was plunged into darkness yesterday as a “Massive power outage” shut off electricity to 88,000 electricity customers closing down a number of local subway stations and turning off nearby traffic lights.
A report by SF Gate claims that the power outage was “probably caused by a fire at a PG&E substation.” The newspaper reports that the power failure started to plague customers just after 9 a.m. through to 5 p.m when full power was restored.
Apple’s Union Square store is certainly a stunner. The front of the store features two 42-foot sliding glass doors that double as two-story windows, a 6K video screen on the second floor, and living trees lining its new customer support section.
