New Apple Watch Series 3 announced, with new WiFi and LTE models from $399
Apple has officially unveiled the Apple Watch Series 3, an update to their existing Apple Watch line which boasts a new dual-core processor with up to 70% more performance than their previous generation Apple wearable.
As revealed in a leak earlier today, the Apple Watch Series 3 features cellular LTE capabilities, allowing for users to make and receive cellular telephone calls on their watch without being connected to an iPhone. Taking to the stage, Apple’s own Jeff Williams shared how engineers have turned the display of the Apple Watch Series 3 into an antenna system, with the Apple Watch Series 3 the same size as the Series 2, with the only difference being a back crystal that was extended 0.25 millimeters, or the equivalent of two sheets of paper.
Apple has added a dual-core processor which enables Siri to speak for the first time, so users don’t need to look at the screen. And the W2 chip adds 80 percent faster Wi-Fi while being 50 percent more power efficient. – The W2 also includes an altimeter, that tracks flights climbed and should improve apps that track skiing and snowboarding.
Apple will sell two versions of the Apple Watch Series 3, with a non-LTE model starting at $329, and a cellular model at $399. – Preorders for the Apple Watch Series 3 begin on September 15th, with the product shipping to customers on September 22nd.
