Majority of stores in the UK are now accepting limitless Apple Pay payments
According to Jennifer Bailey, the head of Apple’s mobile payments business, half of the contactless payment terminals in the UK are now reportedly able to take Apple Pay transactions of any value, overcoming the £30.00 restriction which most contactless card readers were limited to accepting.
Apple reports that Apple Pay payments in the UK have risen 300% in the last year, with 23 banks now supporting the service. “Our momentum has been fantastic. We’re really excited about the progress,” Bailey told the Telegraph.
Apple Pay launched in the UK back in 2015 and has been rolled out rapidly across the country.
The upgrades, which Ms Bailey said applied to hundreds of thousands of terminals, means shoppers in many places can make payments of any value without taking their wallet with them.
