iOS 12.1 reference new ‘iPad2018Fall’, practically confirming new iPad models launching this year
Code discovered within Apple’s recently released iOS 12.1 developer beta has practically confirmed new iPad models will be launching this year, with references found to new Memoji syncing over iCloud, hinting Face ID will indeed be launching on the forthcoming Apple tablets.
Over the past couple of months, iOS 12 beta releases have uncovered a lot of evidence pointing to Apple introducing an iPhone X-style design to the next-generation iPad, including icons that showed an iPad with thin bezels and no Home Button, an iPad-ready version of AvatarKit (used for Animoji), and more.
While the new ‘iPad2018Fall’ references don’t uncover any secrets about the design of the new hardware, the code does reveal that Memoji character can be recorded in both portrait and landscape orientation, almost confirming that Face ID will work in both orientations too, unlike the iPhone X and later.
Apple will likely take to the stage again in October to unveil the new range of Face ID equipped iPad models, and possibly a low-cost ‘entry-level’ MacBook. – Stay tuned to The Apple Post for the latest iPad news, leaks and rumors as we inch closer to Apple’s official reveal.
