iOS 10 has been installed on almost 80% of active iOS devices according to adoption data shared by Apple
According to the latest adoption data shared by Apple, over five months after iOS 10 was released to the public the software has been installed on 79% of active iOS devices around the world, with 16% of handsets running iOS 9 and only 5% running earlier software.
With Apple actively releasing iOS 10.3 beta software it’s likely that percentage will grow prior to the release of iOS 11 which is expected to be previewed at Apple’s 28th annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC 17) later this year.
As always, iOS adoption continues to significantly outpace Android. Nougat, the latest version of Android, is installed on just 1.2% of active Android devices as of 6th February, despite being released six months ago. While iOS 10.3 is still in beta, here’s what the early releases show the software will include…
– There’s a new “Find My AirPods” tool to help users locate lost AirPods.
– SiriKit can be used to pay bills, check on the status of payments, and schedule future rides.
– The weather icon in the Maps app includes 3D Touch to show hourly forecasts.
– CarPlay includes new shortcuts for launching recently used apps.
– CarPlay’s Maps now features EV charging station locations.
– HomeKit supports programmable light switches.
– Conversation View in the Mail app features navigation improvements.
– When installing iOS 10.3, it will update the file system to Apple File System (APFS), so it’s important to make a backup before updating.
