Image claims to show next-generation iPhone prototypes
Sketchy images shared by blog TechnoCodex claim to show prototypes reportedly leaked from Apple’s manufacturer in India of its next-generation iPhone models in a purple and peel green colored glass backing.
This could be our first glimpse at Apple’s low-cost LCD 6.1-inch iPhone expected to launch later this year. Apple of course released the “affordable” plastic iPhone 5C in a range of color options, so it is possible Apple intends to do the same for this lower-priced iPhone model too. – The Apple Post reported earlier this month that the new 6.1-inch device could be released in blue, yellow and pink.
Despite the new colour backing, the images hint Apple’s next-generation iPhone models will retain the design of the current iPhone X. – If you look closely, the two “new” models show what appears to be a gold stainless steel frame, although this could be the standard silver stainless steel band found on the silver iPhone X that when photographed turned yellow under the lighting.
The blog claims the images were leaked by an employee at a manufacturer in India; while Apple does produce iPhone models in India, China is usually the hub for new iPhone manufacturing. It is possible that if these images are the rumored 6.1-inch l0w-cost LCD iPhone expected to launch later this year that Apple is choosing to have these devices produced in India, allowing manufacturers in China to focus exclusively on the next-generation iPhone X and iPhone X Plus.
While these images should most certainly be taken with a pinch of salt, earlier in the year The Apple Post reported that Apple was planning to introduce a new iPhone X colour in an attempt to ‘restore sales’, fuelling earlier reports of a luxurious ‘Blush Gold’ color option launching in the future. Although most recently Apple introduced a special edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X didn’t get any new colour option to the disappointment of many.
