Foxconn chairman Terry Gou says 50,000 jobs could be created if Apple launches a U.S. manufacturing facility
Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Foxconn’s billionaire chairman, Terry Gou reported Apple could create between 30,000 to 50,000 jobs if they were to open U.S. manufacturing facilities, adding that Pennsylvania is a possible location for the company as long as they can negotiate good rates for land and power.
The $7 billion facility is said to be where Foxconn would manufacture displays for future iOS devices, with the increase in demand for larger display panels making local production a better solution than shipping from China to the U.S. market according to Gou.
While Apple didn’t comment on Terry Gous’ comments, it’s been said Apple is as eager as Foxconn in moving facilities to the United States, with Apple possibly investing financially in the new American facility. – Gou says America has no panel-making industry even though it is a giant market for televisions and phones.
