Elgato introduces Eve Aqua, new HomeKit garden hose control
Elgato has kicked-off pre-orders for Eve Aqua, the controller that turns your garden hose into a fully functional HomeKit accessory, allowing you to water the plants, turn on the sprinklers, calculate water consumption, and more from your iPhone or iPad.
Using the new HomeKit sprinkler accessory type introduced in iOS 11.2, Eve Aqua gives homeowners the ability to automate their garden, with controls within the Eve Aqua application offering advanced features such as estimates of how much water is being consumed, and the ability to schedule times for when the sprinklers should be activated.
As the device uses HomeKit you can simply ask, “Hey Siri, turn on my sprinkler” wherever you are in the world and the Eve Aqua garden hose controller will kick into action.
As shown in the video below, the Eve Aqua unit simply attaches to your standard outdoor faucet, users can then connect their garden hose to the device to run water through the system. The device is IPX4 water resistant and UV resistant, making it fit to work in all types of climates and weather conditions.
Eve Aqua is available now to pre-order on Amazon, with the controller shipping to customers in-time for summer on June 25, for $99.95. The device requires users have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11.3 or later. The Eve Aqua connects through Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi, to communicate with HomeKit. The device itself runs on two AA batteries that should last a number of months due to the systems use of Bluetooth Low Energy.
