Contradicting supply chain leak shows a rear-facing Touch ID cutout on the iPhone 8
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8 is building itself up to be one of the most anticipated iPhone releases of all time, and with reports of Apple ditching fingerprint scanning all together from the handset, this new supply chain leak shows what appears to be a rear-facing Touch ID cutout, contradicting previous reports and part leaks.
The chassis, which appeared in photos on Baidu, shows that if Apple were to re-locate the Touch ID sensor from the front of the device they would choose to align it just below the main Apple logo. – According to KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo, dubbed the “best Apple analyst on the planet” by some, the iPhone 8 will not feature a Touch ID sensor or any fingerprint recognition capabilities.
It’s believed Apple will release two iPhone models in September, an iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus that will be minor updates to Apple’s current iPhone 7 offerings as well as an all new, dramatically redesigned iPhone 8.
