Apple’s next iPhone is rumoured to feature a curved, bezel-free 5-inch and 5.8-inch screen design
According to Barclays Research analysts Blayne Curtis, Christopher Hemmelgarn, Thomas O’Malley, and Jerry Zhang; Apple’s next iPhone release is rumoured to feature a curved, bezel-free screen design, in 5-inch and 5.8-inch variations.
The report, which is based on apparent tips from inside Apple’s supply chain in Asia, and obtained by MacRumours, claims that the 5.8-inch model of the upcoming handset will use OLED display technology to produce a sharper, brighter, and more energy efficient display compared to the LCD equipment currently being used within Apple’s hardware, with Samsung and LG rumoured to be the two main component suppliers for the 2017 device.
Further rumours suggest to achieve a truly bezel-free screen design, Apple could be looking to drop the home button from both the 5-inch and 5.8-inch ‘iPhone 8’, however; Barclays Research analysts weren’t able to confirm this on their latest visit to Asia.
