Apple’s new 9.7-inch iPad is now shipping, arriving to the first wave of customers before the end of the month
Shortly after the tablet became available to order on Friday, Apple is beginning to ship the first wave of 9.7-inch iPad orders, with deliveries scheduled to arrive starting from Thursday 30th March 2017. The new “budget” iPad features Apple’s A9 chip alongside a 10-hour battery life and 8 megapixel rear camera. Surprisingly the tablet is thicker and heavier than the iPad Air 2 and doesn’t feature laminated glass, and no anti-reflective glass.
The new low-cost iPad is currently available in the US and more than 20 countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK and will arrive into Denmark, India, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Turkey and other countries and regions in April.
“iPad is the world’s most popular tablet. Customers love the large, 9.7-inch display for everything from watching TV and movies, to surfing the web, making FaceTime calls, and enjoying photos, and now it is even more affordable,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “New customers and anyone looking to upgrade will love this new iPad for use at home, in school, and for work, with its gorgeous Retina display, our powerful A9 chip, and access to the more than 1.3 million apps designed specifically for it.”
