Apple’s description of watchOS 3.1.3 shows ‘Theater Mode’ will soon be released for Apple Watch
Following the launch of iOS 10.3 beta 1 today, many have been left disappointed that the update didn’t include ‘Theater Mode‘ which has been speculated to launch on iOS since December, with the new feature rumoured to dull down the screen of a device when in a dark room such as a Theater and disable raise to wake to avoid any light being emitted from the display.
While Apple didn’t release any new Apple Watch beta’s today, the company released the upcoming beta release notes which mentions ‘Theater Mode‘, a new setting to ”quickly mute the sound on their Apple Watch and avoid waking the screen on wrist raise.”
Introduced in watchOS 3.1.3, Theater Mode lets users quickly mute the sound on their Apple Watch and avoid waking the screen on wrist raise. Users still receive notifications (including haptics) while in Theater Mode, which they can view by tapping the screen or pressing the Digital Crown.
It appears then that ‘Theater Mode‘ will be geared towards Apple Watch rather than iOS, something which would make sense considering iPhone and iPad users can always enable Do Not Disturb and Night Shift mode when in such an environment as a Theater.
Hope isn't lost for you ‘Theater Mode’ lovers. https://t.co/BrR8mJ6t76
