Apple updates App Store web previews with new iOS inspired design
Apple has overhauled their App Store web previews page with a new, simplistic iOS inspired design. Following in the footsteps of iOS 11’s dramatically redesigned App Store, the new App Store web previews page shows larger app preview images, a heavier focus on reviews and the ability to view full version history information, something which was previously exclusive to the App Store on iOS.
The update comes for both iOS and macOS app previews, however as shown below the previews for iOS devices show a blue banner pointing out that “This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.”
The change comes following the launch of iTunes 12.7, which entirely eliminated the built-in App Store for iOS apps.
It has been reported that Apple is working on new developer tools which will enable developers to design and engineer a single application that runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices, internally called project “Marzipan”. If project “Marzipan” was to proceed, it’s possible Apple could one day merge the less-popular Mac App Store with the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
